About me

My name is Samantha Jarvis, I am mother and a grandmother. I am also an advanced personal trainer and a Level 1 strength & conditioning coach. I have successfully completed a course in counselling, achieved certification in weight loss and detox from the College of Naturopathic Medicine. I have trained at the Body Transformation Academy, School of Rock Solid and the CHEK (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) Institute.

I no longer have hypothalamus-pituitary dysfunction, hypothyroidism, depression, anxiety, and I have successfully managed small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and leaky gut into submission.  That’s some shopping list of ills I hear you say.  Agreed, but sadly not uncommon.

Let’s rewind the clock.  Back in the annals of time I had a breakdown.  My GP suggested I take a commonly prescribed serotonin re-uptake inhibitor.  Wowee, once I started down that road things got a whole lot worse; panic attacks, anxiety, a medically induced bi-polar.

It took me a long time to get over that episode in my life and even then I still didn’t feel ‘right’.  I was short-tempered, impatient and needy.  I had various digestive issues, which I had always been told were normal in my family.  Let me tell you loud and clear people – constipation, bloating and sugar cravings are not normal.  They are a sign of gut dysfunction.  My chronic gut issues led to a cascade of hormonal dysfunction and an early hysterectomy.  If I knew then what I know now I certainly would not have allowed myself to be rail-roaded into that barbaric operation.  However, like it or not I am sans uterus.

My recovery from the hysterectomy was pretty swift despite recurrent UTI’s, a consequence of catheteriastion.  But still I felt ‘off’.

I consulted with more counsellors, nutritionists, dietitians, doctors, consultants, hydrotherapists, microbiologists, gastroenterologists and coaches than I care to remember.  There was also a session or two with a shamanic healer and even a swameji (he was very cool).  Some of  these experts were incredibly helpful but not one understood the whole story, they could only advise on their own particular area of expertise. I believe to truly heal you must treat the body as a whole system and seek the root cause of health problems. You need to heal your mind, your body and your soul.

With effort,  support and persistence you can throw off the shackles of the past and live a less stressful, more successful, healthful and vibrant life.
